Life Reflections

Our beloved father, who meant so "much" to so "many", departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

Bernard McAlister, affectionately know by all as "Knot" was born on July 4, 1949 to the late Wallace "BA" McAlister and Blanche Barr McAlister in Kingstree, South Carolina. His parents, one sister (Bertha McAlister Chatman) and one brother (James Cecil Barr) preceded him in death.

Bernard received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. Upon graduation from high school, he was inducted into the United States Army, where he toured his duty in Vietnam.

On May 21, 1971, Bernard was joined in Holy Matrimony and was blessed with two sons.

Bernard worked on several job throughout the county. However, his main passion was being self-employed as an Exterminator.

Bernard loved sports. He assisted in the coaching of the Mites and Midgets Football Leagues for many years.

Bernard found Christ late in life, but Christ was found. He had Bible study classes at his home once a week and invited friends and family.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children: Lentheus McAlister of Florence, SC; Kevin (Willness) McAlister of Charleston, SC; two sisters Jannie M. McAlister of Kingstree, SC and Bernice (Willie) Singleton of Andrews; four grandchildren, Brentey Simon, Noah, Jeremiah, and Sarari McAlister all of Charleston, SC; one uncle, James Barr of Kingstree, SC; one aunt Deloris (Henry) Williams of Henderson, NC and one Special Friend, Paulette Youmans, host of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.
