Obituary

Mrs. Bernetha Singletary, daughter of the late Mr. Jimmy McFadden and Mrs. Annie McFadden, was born on May 7, 1937 in Kingstree, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Bernetha affectionately known as (GRANNY), attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She also was educated at the F.B. Dubose Training in Manning, South Carolina. She was married into holy matrimony to Mr. Willie Singletary Jr. This union was blessed with eight children, one preceded her in death (Mrs. Antenette Fulmore). She was employed with the Baxter Laboratory, W.M. Anderson Primary, St. Ann's Catholic Center and Kingstree Nursing Facility. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. It was then when she grew a greater understanding with God. She became a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church where she worked as a Communion Stewart until her health failed. Bernetha enjoyed her pastime by spending time with her family and friends, reading, and cooking her delicious famous sweet potato pies, cakes, biscuit, and macaroni & cheese. Granny will always be loved and missed by many friends and relatives She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Esther (Gladys) Shaw and Mrs. Ruby Shaw; one brother, Mr. Joseph McFadden. Loved ones who will cherish her memories forever are her children: Mr. Anthony Singletary and Ms. Shanta Singletary both of the home, Mrs. Sheila (Isaiah) Graham, Mr. Alonza (Debra) McFadden, Mr. Jimmie Lee Singletary, Mr. Tyrone (Peggy) Singletary all of Kingstree, SC, Ms. Deborah Singletary of Bronx, NY; 20 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Shaw of Kingstree, SC; one brother, John McFadden of Atlanta, GA; one brother in-law, Mr. Randy Singletary of Kingstree, SC. And a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
