Obituary

Mrs. Betty Green Singletary, was born the Eighth day of March, 1945 in Williamsburg County, Kingstree, South Carolina to the late Ed and Ethel Green. She departed this earthly life on Saturday May 25, 2019 at McCleod Regional Medical enter, Florence, South Carolina. At an early age Betty Joined St. Michael United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Rev. CJ James. Where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Savior. She served in the following capacities; Jr. Usher Board and sung on the Jr. Choir. Betty was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, graduating from St. Mark High School in 1963. In 1964 Betty was joined in holy wedlock to the late Joe Singletary. This Union was blessed with three sons. Two preceded her in death namely Jerome and Aaron Singletary. Betty and Joe also located to New York City in 1964, while living in New York City she became a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Holiness church under the leadership of Bishop Stungs in Bronx, NY. There she also served on the Usher Board. In 1978 Betty and Joe relocated back to Kingstree, SC. She reinstated her membership at St. Michael UMC. She served on the Usher Board, Communion Steward, and United Methodist Women. Betty worked in the textile industries in New York and South Carolina; Baxter Lab, Tupperware, and Phoenix Glove company. Betty leaves to cherish her memories; her devoted baby boy Jo'Ray(Tammy) Singletary of Dobson, NC, a granddaughter she raised as her own Megan Singletary and Shanerga (John) Thompson both of Kingstree, SC; two grandsons Aaron Singletary of Kingstree, SC and Cadyn Singletary of Dobson, NC; one great-grandson Zakania Tisdale of Kingstree, SC; five sisters, Celia Wallace and Millie Green both of Kingstree, SC, Shirley (Billy) Easterling of Florence, SC, Deloris G Nesmith of Bridgeton, New Jersey and Mary Wilson of Syracuse, New York; two brothers; James Green and Eddie (Viola) Green both of Kingtree, SC and a surrogate brother John D. (Shirley) Green also of Kingstree, SC; two daughters-in-law Tabatha Singletary of Aiken, SC and Diane Singletary of Kingstree, SC. Two Uncles; Elder Johnny (Jean) Shaw of Palatka, FL, Barry (Dorothy) Marshal of Summerville, SC; one Aunt Mellie Mae Green of Baltimore, MD., four sisters in law Juanita (Frankie) Pompey of Kingstree, SC, Dorothy Singletary and Jane Bostic both of Bronx, NY, Eartha Singletary of Chesapeake, VA along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; Betty also served as a foster parent.
