Obituary

Sgt. 1st Class Claude Howard Wilson the son of the late Frank Wilson and Annie Hart Wilson, was born in Florence County on April 14, 1932. He departed this earthly life Monday, April 10, 2017 at National Health Care Sumter, SC. He was joined in holy matrimony to Nettie Boyd Wilson. He attended the public school system of Florence County. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge after thirty years of service. During his military service he received many honors and citations such as ; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/4 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/ Palm (unit), Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon "2" NCO Professional Development Ribbon "2" Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was also employed as a railroad worker. He was a kind, loving, faithful, compassionate and gentle man who always had a friendly smile and cheerful greeting for everyone. He leaves to cherish his precious memory; his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Nettie Boyd Wilson of the home; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws other relatives and friends.
