Mrs. Cleola Driffin Cunningham was born March 10, 1926 in Williamsbuurg County, Greeleyville, South Carolina to the late Mr. Thomas Driffin and Mrs. Rosa Lee Brown Driffin.

Mrs. Cunningham entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 07, 2017 at McLeod Regional Medical Center Florence, South Carolina after an illness.

Mrs. Cunningham was a member of St. Mary UMC. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and also taught Sunday School.

Mrs. Cunningham was educated in the public school system of Williamsburg County. Upon graduating from high school she entered Morris College and received a degree in education. She taught school in Clarendon and Williamsburg County. She served as an educator for over fifty years.

She also attended Chicago School of Nursing where she received her credentials in nursing. She was the last known mid-wife in Williamsburg County.

Mrs. Cunningham was one of the first Pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement. She was a servant of the people helping anyone that was in need.

In 1947 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Martin T. Cunningham.

Those left to cherish her memory forever are: two sons, Martin Cunningham of Greeleyville, SC and Michael (Christina) Cunningham of Kingstree, SC; one brother Roosevelt Driffin of Greeleyville, South Carolina; four sisters, Hazel Montgomery , Margaret (James) Burgess, Mary Turner all of Greeleyville, South Carolina and Dorothy Sherman of New Haven, Conn.; a number of grandchildren;

and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She is also survived by an additional daughter-in-law Phyllis Cunningham of Charlotte, NC.
