Deacon Joshua
Scott Sr.
August 8, 1932 – November 19, 2019
Joshua Scott Sr. was born on August 8, 1932 in Williamsburg County, Kingstree, South Carolina to the late William Cobert Scott and Vinnie Buddin Scott. He was the third child and second son of five children. On Tuesday evening, November 19, 2019, Joshua peacefully entered into eternal rest at his home in Kingstree, South Carolina.
He attended Williamsburg County public schools. While in school, he also worked on his family farm to provide for himself, his brother "Billy Boy" and his father. His family farm consisted of over 300 acres of land that had been passed down through the family for two generations. After his schooling, he worked as a master electrician in Florida and in Charleston, South Carolina as a member of the Bonitz Construction Company work crew. He worked on many of the hospitals, hotels, and banks in Charleston.
On December 26, 1962, he was joined in holy matrimony to Daisy Mae Segres. He was a loving father to one son, three daughters, three nephews, and raised them in the house he built. He loved going to WWE wrestling events with his son Josh Jr., taking his family to Myrtle Beach every summer for vacation, and later on spending time with his grandsons on the Scott family farm.
Joshua accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the beginning of his marriage. He was a Christian father who went to church every Sunday with his family. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Church in the Holy Woods and in Florence, SC where he served as the Head Deacon for many years.
Together Joshua and Daisy opened the doors to Kindale Park Day Care Center on February 1, 1971. During the 43 years the daycare center was opened, many children were loved and taught by his wife Daisy and their staff. Joshua took great joy in maintaining the building, opening the doors for early morning kids, and driving the large day care school bus.
Joshua was preceded in death by his beloved wife Daisy Mae Scott in 2018. In addition, he also was preceded in death by his daughter Francine, his brothers Abraham Scott, William "Billy Boy" Scott, Leroy Lee Scott Sr, his sister Alberta Folks, and his twin grandsons King and Rufus.
Those who will cherish his memories forever are his loving children who were the apple of his eye Verdenice "Deannie" Scott of Kingstree, SC, Joshua Scott Jr. of Kingstree, SC, Veronica (Dwight) Scott Fulton of Jacksonville, FL, Valerie Scott Dickey of Atlanta, GA, Virginia White of Richmond, VA, Leroy (Tangie) Scott Sr. of Sacramento, CA, Irvin (Latoya) Erskine Scott of Atlanta, GA; his dearly beloved grandchildren LaToya White, Josh'Etta Maria Scott, Faith Leann Chandler, Scott Eugene Fulton, Philip Joshua Fulton, Maci Elise Fulton, Jarel Samuel Dickey, Daisy JaiRuth Dickey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
