The Life and Legacy of
Derrick Jerome Gamble
"Rome"
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
Psalm 27:1
Derrick Jerome Gamble was born August 13, 1965 to Geraldine Griffin-Gamble and the late Robert Gamble in Miami, Florida. Derrick attended Kingstree High School and later received his GED. Derrick was lovingly referred to as "Rome." Rome was a gentle soul who would give his last to anyone that asked. He would go above and beyond for his friends and family.
Rome was truly a huge sports fan, from football to baseball he truly enjoyed watching sports. Rome was what some may call a 'newsophile', he always knew all current events and news from around the world. Rome never failed to show his love to his family and he wore his emotions on his sleeve. Rome heard the calling of the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined Shekinah Temple and has been a member ever since.
Derrick leaves to cherish his precious memories his dear son: Derrice McFadden (Monique); grandchildren (McKayla Dozier), (Trinity Dozier), and (Jesiah McFadden); siblings: Robert Gamble (Carol), Minerva Gamble-Lumpkin (the late Willie), Ferma Scott (the late Terry), Tanya Moore (Al Malik), and Terrell Gamble (Shawanda); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
