Obituary

I have fought a long good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Fannie D. McClorin was a virtuous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. On Monday, August 21st 2023 at 12:01 am, in His infinite wisdom, God saw fit and told His child, "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant".

Mrs. Fannie D. McClorin was the second oldest of four children born to the late Henry and Irene Russell Giles. Sweet sisters Elease Darby, Mary Giles, and Essie Giles have preceded her in death.  She was reared by the late Solomon and Anna Davis on the Broomstraw Road family farm.  She was reared closely with her adopted brother Jessie (Lorraine) Dingle.  She completed the average level of education for farm workers during her time.  She was loyal and dedicated as she assumed the leadership responsibilities as the owner of the family farm where she raised animals, planted and harvested many crops and maintained the farm's day to day activities throughout all the seasons.  Mrs. Fannie's patience, eagerness to learn and goals to contribute to society gained her much wisdom, knowledge and success in life.

Mrs. Fannie was a loving wife to William McClorin who preceded her in death, March 1972.  She was a dedicated mother of 10 children, four of which have preceded her in death, Dr. Solomon Franklin Davis, Willie Lee (Burnestine) McClorin, Henry McClorin and Christine (Eugene) Noland. Children who will forever cherish her loving memories are five daughters, Jannie Dukes and Dr. Cynthia McClorin of Lane, SC; Carolyn McClorin and Dr. Lottie McClorin of Columbia, SC; Lavetta McClorin of Clayton, NC and one hard working son Kenneth McClorin of Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. McClorin had eleven grandchildren, Steven (Patrice) Noland, Courtney (Yoursheka) McClorin, Damon McClorin, Henry (Asiya) McClorin Jr, David (Alexis) Noland, Michael Noland, Kevin Dukes, Courtney McClorin, Adrian Dukes, Lacheal McClorin, and Mikayla Cunningham, fifteen great grand-children, (Shante, Sharde, Brandon, Cournesha, Courtney, Cournae, Damontae, Aliyah, Madison, Deja, David, Michelle, Cayden, Tyler and Lanylah) and one great great-grandchild (Aliza).  She had a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mrs. McClorin took joy and pride in preparing and serving the infamous Pastoral Sunday Meals to many former Bethel AME pastors and elders. Many have traveled miles to get a piece of her sweet potato and coconut pies. She was not a woman of many words but her sweet soprano voice was heard on the Senior Choir for many years before retiring in 2010. Favorite hymnal was 'Blessed Quietness'.  Mrs. McClorin would sing or hum as she worked, and always took time to pray and, and saw to it that her household prayed the Lord's Prayer.

Mrs. McClorin as a farmer and homemaker, had skilled sets like a nurse, friend, counselor and teacher as she raised her children, grandchildren and neighborhood children.  She was a seamstress and singer, and some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, sewing garments and repairs, singing on Bethel's Senior choir and performing with a travel gospel quartet group.

Her favorite pass times were enjoying the fruits of her labor by spending time with her family and friends, watching her favorite television shows and listening to church services.  Favorite scripture was Psalms 23 and her advice to the young and old was to "Push and Pray". God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be.  So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to me". With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you passed away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Love your Children and Grandchildren
