Illa Mae Boyd was born October 13, 1926 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late Frances McKnight Marsh and Thomas Marsh, Sr.She was educated in the public schools of Andrews, South Carolina. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elijah Boyd, Sr. in 1949. To this union eight children were born one of whom precede her in death.Also preceded in death are three brothers and five sisters. Her life was devoted to being a good Christian mother to her children. She was a domestic housewife that loved her job and all the duties that came with it. In her early years she dedicated her life to Christ and became a member of the Church of Christ. She held steadfastly to her faith until the Lord called her home. She departed her life on Friday, September 7, 2012 at her home. Her fond and loving memories will be cherished by her children: Elizabeth (Roosevelt) Harkless, Elijah (Bernetha) Boyd, Nathaniel (Lynn) Boyd all of Florence, SC; Jimmie Boyd, Virginia (Soloman) Darby, Jackie (Barbara) Boyd, and Eugene Boyd all of Andrews, SC; Brothers:Ernest Lee Marsh of Richmond, Virginia and Gene Marsh of North Carolina; one brother-in-law, four sister-in-laws; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild , a special nephew Roy Spivey and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
