Dr. Janice Marie McClary Brown , age 39, has finished her course, and transitioned during the evening of Friday, May 7, 2021 at Regency Hospital, Florence, SC after an extended illness.

Janice was born to the late Reverend Joseph Durant and Johnnie Bell Hillard McClary on October 07, 1981 in Florence, SC. She attended Williamsburg County Schools and graduated Salutatorian of her Kingstree Senior High class of 1999. She furthered her education with both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Secondary Math Education at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC. Janice graduated magna cum laude and received induction into Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Her aspirations continued with the accomplishment of a Doctorate of Educational Leadership at Capella University, Minneapolis, MN in 2011.

Janice taught high school Math at Woodland High School, Dorchester, SC; Lake Marion High School, Santee, SC; Olympia Alternative School, Columbia, SC; Kingstree Senior High, Kingstree, SC; Timberland High School, St. Stephen, SC. She taught on the collegiate level at Virginia College, Birmingham, AL and Williamsburg Technical College, Kingstree, SC. Janice founded Brown's Scholastic Tutoring Services and began implementation of her own charter school in 2020.

At an early age, Janice saw the need for having a personal relationship with God. She attended the Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Holiness Church in the Holy Woods Community. She served in the Youth Department, on the Hosanna Host Choir, and the Usher Board. Janice also enjoyed socializing with her close friends, traveling, and spending time with family. She was soft spoken and always had a willingness to help those in need.

Janice was joined in holy matrimony to Murray Brown Jr. on July 11, 2009 at the age of 28. God blessed her and Murray with one son, presently age 9, and twins, age 5.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Joseph McClary and brothers, Anthony, Tony, and Joseph Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Murray Brown Jr., of the home; her three children, Murray D. Brown III, William D. Brown, and Essence M. Brown, all of the home; her loving mother, Johnnie B. Hillard McClary of Kingstree, SC; mother-in-law, Evangelist Vera Brown of Orangeburg, SC; father-in law, Murray Brown Sr. of Williston, SC; one sister, Ruth Staggers-Wilson of Kingstree, SC; one sister-in-law, Tonika (Alex) Higgins of Columbia, SC; one God sister, Oreal Conyers (Emmanuel) Oladele of Atlanta, GA; three aunts, Ruby Gilchrist of Atlanta Georgia, Lirlease Gamble, and Isabelle Wilson of Kingstree, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends considered sisters.
