Mr. Joe Tisdale Jr. departed this earthly life and was taken into his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at MUSC Health of Florence Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1930 in Georgetown, SC and was the forth of thirteen children. Born to his parents Joe Tisdale Sr. and Viola McCrea Tisdale.

Joe received his formal education in Williamsburg County Schools. He was employed by Drexel Furniture Company of Kingstree for thirty years, employed by Georgia Pacific Plywood Company until he retired, and a dedicated entrepreneur in the food services.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Salters, SC. He was the Chairman of the Deacon Board at Bethlehem, the Treasure of The Missionary Baptist Educational Association & Ministries, Inc., and started the Low Country Food Bank at Bethlehem. He was a member of the Williamsburg County Democratic Party, the Williamsburg County Election Commission Board, and The Pride of Rose Hill Masonic Lodge #405.

On April 15, 1952, Joe Tisdale Jr. happily married the love of his life, the late Pansy Tisdale. Their marriage was a true example of unconditional love and devotion. Their union lasted 66 years and was blessed with eight children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Pansy Tisdale, his son Billy Tisdale; two daughters baby Jarett Tisdale and Cynthia Evon Tisdale McClary; brothers, Jacob Tisdale and Robert Tisdale Sr.; sisters, Florine Barnes, and Beatrice Gamble.

Joe Tisdale Jr. will be deeply missed by his daughters Clara Faye Dozier, Deloris (Rev. Vernon )Fowler, Ayesha Tisdale, and Glenda Tisdale all of Kingstree SC; sons Wayne (Yoshimi) Tisdale of Guam, USA, Kirk (Vivian) Tisdale of Columbia SC, and Joey Tisdale of Orlando, Fl; son-in-law, Sam McClary; daughter-in-laws, Beverly Tisdale and Sharese Sills Tisdale; brothers Arthur (Rachel) Tisdale of Kingstree, SC, Joe Louis Tisdale and Samuel (Mae) of Columbia, SC, and Solomon (Alice) Tisdale of Philadelphia, Pa; sisters, Margret Shaw, Rev. Louise Woods, Johnnie Mae Harrison, Annie Lee Dixon all of Columbia SC, and Joann (Dole) Frazier of Beaufort SC; two grands he reared as his own, Shaniqua Tisdale and Kateria Fulton of the home; twenty grandchildren, twenty– two great grandchildren, special sons, Kenneth Richardson, Richard McKenzie, and Glenn A. Keels, a special friend David McClam and a host of other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
