Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. John White of St. Stephens, SC. He departed this earthy life on Sunday,  March 01, 2026. He is the husband of Mrs. Billie Jean White.

Mr. John Arthur White was born on January 26, 1952, to the late Leroy and  Juanita Milligan White in Berkeley County. He received his formal education through the Berkeley County School System and graduated from  Russellville High School in 1969, where he excelled in his studies. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Calvary Reformed Episcopal Church. He was united in holy matrimony to Billie Jean White on July 21, 1973. John A. White worked at Georgia Pacific Lumber Yard. He was a master contractor in construction and worked diligently for the Berkeley County School District. His  hobbies included pitter-pattering around the yard and building whatever his heart desired, watching golf and cooking shows, fishing, and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Juanita White; his brother, Nehemiah White; and his sister, Anabelle Gilliard. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Billie Jean White; his daughter, Shannon (Nathaniel) Whitten of Cross, SC; his sons, Sidney (Maxine) Johnson of Georgia, Kendall (Michelle) White, and Kodee White of St. Stephens; his grandchildren, Natavian (Sharell) Whitten, Nashayla Whitten, Nakiary Whitten, Nadajah Whitten, Karma White, Damoni White, Kamen White, and Kinzley Whitten; and his great-granddaughter, Kaydence Whitten. He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Manigualt, Bishop William (Gale) White, Vernon (Roberta) White, Linda (John) Judge, Bettie Benekin, and Charlie Ham; his in-laws, David (Sharon) Bettard, Clarence Bettard, James  Gilliard, Sarah Bettard, JoAnne (Corey) Dukes, Jennifer Bettard, Mary-Anne Bettard, and Elnora Pressley; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his loving church family.

Final rites have been entrusted to Pressley's Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.

The family will begin receiving visitors at 538 Prosperity Ln. St. Stephens, SC on Monday, March 02, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

The family extends sincere gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this difficult time. We solicit your continued prayers, love, and encouragement as we find strength and comfort together.
