On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the age of 50, Joseph Durant McClary, Jr. passed away in the home in Kingstree after an extended illness. Joseph Durant McClary, Jr. was born on July 30, 1969, to the late Rev. Joseph Durant McClary, Sr., and Mother Johnnie Bell Hillard McClary in Kingstree, South Carolina.
Joe , as he was affectionately called, attended Williamsburg County School System and was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High in 1987. During his high school years as a part of the marching band, the trumpet was his instrument of choice. He pursued the field of engineering both at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina and at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina. Joe served his country as an enlisted soldier of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Joe's career history included employment at Milliken of Kingstree, South Carolina, 3V Sigma USA, Inc. of Georgetown, South Carolina, Ohio Railroad Companies, and Nanya Plastic of Lake City, South Carolina.
Joe , at an early age, attended the Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Holiness Church in the Holy Woods Community. He was an active participant of the youth department and attended Sunday school regularly.
Joe possessed a benevolent spirit and would give his last. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. His hobbies included watching sports television, reading, and traveling.
Joe's brothers, Anthony and Tony McClary, preceded him in death.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Johnnie Bell McClary of Kingstree; his fiancée, Tiffany Gore of Kingstree, a daughter they shared, Joe'laya McClary, two sons he considered as his own, Tytrell and Draquan Gore, all of the home; two sisters, Janice (Murray) Brown and Ruth Staggers-Wilson of Kingstree; three surviving aunts: Lirlease Gamble, Isabelle Wilson of Kingstree, and Ruby Gilchrist of Atlanta, Georgia; a special cousin, Roderick McClary of Lake City, South Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
