Lerone Burgess
Jr.
April 16, 1945 – December 27, 2024
Lerone Burgess, Jr. son of the late Lerone Burgess, Sr. and Ellen Fulton Burgess, was born on April 16, 1945 in New York. He was preceded in death by his Mother in Law Betty Jo Frierson Burgess, his Sister in Law Betty Jean Frierson and Brother in law Eugene Frierson.
Lerone received his education in the public schools of Williamsburg County.
His love for the automotive industry, allowed him to pursue a thriving 30 plus year career as an Automotive Tire Technician across the states of Florida and South Carolina. His love for baseball allowed him to coach the Mouzon Tigers girls softball team leading them to several championships. He was also a manager for the Mouzon Tigers Baseball Team.
At an early age, he accepted Christ and became a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church. He served on the Usher board for over 30 years and was also a member of the choir. He was united in holy matrimony to Johnnie Mae Frierson for over 37 years.
Lerone Burgess, Jr. affectionately called Junior by family and friends, answered the Master's call on December 27, 2024, at MUSC Health University Medical Center in Florence, SC.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory a loving and devoted wife, Johnnie Mae Burgess of, Kingstree, SC; A beloved daughter Virginia A McCray of Columbia, SC; A brother, James Edward (Sandra) Burgess of Hillside, NJ; A brother-in-law Wes Frierson of Lake City, SC; Five sisters-in-law, Jannie Mae Graham, Zettie Mae Frierson, Gloria (Allen) Edward, Linda (Laverne) Chandler and Betty Faye (Sylvester) Washington all of Lake City, SC; Two Grandchildren Mya I McCray and Matthew R McCray of Columbia, SC; A special Uncle, Vernal (Virginia) Fulton of Kingstree, SC; A loving Aunt, Lillie Mae Fulton of Philadelphia, PA;A Special adopted family, The Alexanders and a host of nephew grand nephews grand nieces, cousins and other dear relatives and friends.
