Life Reflections

We bid farewell to Levern Burrows who was born on December 09, 1955 in Williamsburg County to Lawrence Williams and Barbara Burrows. Levern, affectionately known as "Rip," was reared as a son by Estell McCullough McKnight.  God sent his angels to guide him to his eternal home on April 20, 2020.

Levern received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from St. Mark High School in 1973. He spent his life working on the family farms and was the operator and manager of McKnight's Texaco, a service station in Kingstree, SC, for nearly twenty years.  He was employed with the Williamsburg County government as a heavy -equipment operator, where he retired after more than 28 years. "Vern" was full of life and will be remembered for his vibrant personality. Those who knew him know, he was unafraid to speak his mind. He had a passion for serving others and for good food.  These passions were manifested through his cooking for family, friends and community events. Catfish stew, turtle and BBQ were a few of his specialties.

At an early age, Levern received Christ and joined Bethel United Methodist Church where he was an active member.  He faithfully served as a trustee, steward and vice-chair of the finance committee. He was a member of the Central Community Men's Club.

He was preceded in death by his siblings:  James Arthur McKnight, Elmore McKnight and Lee Gus McKnight.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, W. Jeanie Brown-Burrows, one son, Randy S. McFadden (Priscilla) of Kingstree, SC; a step-daughter, Barvetta Singletary, of Hemingway, SC; seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Mar-kel, Mikayla, RJ, Makenzie, Randy, Jr., Safiya and Bobbie Jai; brothers: Calvin Cobb, Jr. of Panama, Florida; Harrison (Jannie Lue) McKnight, Paul (Landeas) McKnight, Andy (Regina) McKnight all of Kingstree, SC; sisters Teresa Cobb of Miami, Florida; Lorine Shaw of Kingstree, SC; and Roberta (Napolean) Sheriff of Hemingway, SC; one sister-in-law, Glennie McKnight of Kingstree, SC; a special niece, Nicole Heyward of Hemingway, SC; special cousin, Willie McKnight, of Kingstree, SC and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
