Luther received his education in the public school system of Georgetown County. His employment consisted of driving truck for a logging company. Luther received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army.

He entered into Holy Matrimony to the late Anna Bell Knowlin Grant. God bless this union with twelve children. At an early age he became a member of St. Michael AME Church.

Luther Buster Grant leaves to cherish his precious memory to: two sons; Lucus Grant of Columbia, SC and Grover (Martha) Knowlin of Georgetown, SC; six daughters; Belinda Smith (Clemon Deas), Latrice Grant (Michael Wilson), Catina Grant, Erica (Tyrone) Deas, Margo (William)Lewis, and Angel Grant (Richard Maybank) all of Georgetown, SC; 27 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one brother; John Grant of Columbia, SC, 5 sisters in-law and 3 brothers in-law. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
