Life Reflections

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  ~Romans 1:16~

John Ashby Conyers, Sr, the middle child of M c Keever & Berthena Conyers, was born on August 19, 1979, in Williamsburg County.  He was raised in a true Christian home in the Snow Hill Community of Greeleyville, SC and attended the Apostolic Faith Church in Kingstree, SC.  It was in the Apostolic Faith Church's Sunday School where he started learning the Bible stories, singing songs, and reciting speeches.  He sung on the Hosanna's Host and Youth for Christ Choir.  John had a love for poetry and was a poet from a young age.  He wrote for love, church, family, friends, and throughout his life for special events. John was a graduating member of the 1998 class of Kingstree Senior High School.  After graduating from Kingstree Senior High, John attended Morris College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  Upon graduating from college, he taught English in the public school system of Williamsburg County.  On November 10, 2007, John married Tisha Fulmore, his college sweetheart.  This union resulted in two boys, John Ashby Jr. and Jarrett Ashton.

During the summer of 2012, John made multiple trips to the Century, FL Campground.  On the third trip, with conviction all over him, John got saved, sanctified, and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.  He left the campground a new man and reunited with his home church.  He started singing on the Youth Choir, Men's Choir, and the Adult Choir. Two years later, as John was driving home from work, he heard a still, quiet voice say, "I want you and you know what I want you for".  On that sunny day, he asked the Lord to make it rain if he were to go into the ministry.  Very quickly, he noticed a light drizzle.  Sitting in the car, in his driveway, he prayed to the Lord, "if you want me to preach Your Word, I want it to storm".  When he walked in his house, he suddenly heard a mighty thunder roll, and witnessed a mighty rainstorm.  John then told his wife, "That's it.  I got my answer".  On January 25, 2015, John preached his initial sermon.  He was a dynamic, soul-stirring preacher and an even better teacher of God's Word. John was one of the founding members of Zion Tabernacle Holiness Church in October 2019, under the leadership of Rev. Heyward Segars, Sr. He greatly contributed to the work of the church and was a valuable asset to its mission.

Loved ones who will cherish his memories forever are his loving wife: Mrs. Tisha Lashanna Conyers; two sons: John Ashby Conyers, Jr. and Jarrett Ashton Conyers; parents: Deacon M c Keever & Minister Berthena Conyers; mother-in-law: Ms. Linda Fulmore; one brother: M c Keever Alveraz (Karen) Conyers, Sr.; one sister: Berthena Oreal (Emmanuel) Oladele; one brother-in-law: Jason Fulmore; two sisters-in-law: Natalie Gamble and Stacy Fulmore; one grandfather-in-law: Wadell Gamble; six nephews: McKeever Conyers, Jr., McKenzie Conyers, Ethan Oladele, Edison Oladele, Nakian Gamble, and Ty Sanders; one niece: Elise Oladele; thirteen aunts, thirteen uncles; three grand-aunts: Mother Lirlease Gamble, Mother Louise Davis, and Mother Carrie Whack; three close cousins: James Segres, Sr., Demetrius Segars, Sr. and Leonard Pressley, Jr.; two close college classmates: John Burgess and Brian Washington; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
