Minister Lula Lee Fulton Segars was born on September 7, 1944, in Williamsburg County to the late Mr. Heyward Fulton & Mrs. Wilhelmenia Alston Fulton. She was the oldest of their two daughters. Her sister, Hazel Giles, as well as an additional sister, Mamie Cooper, preceded her in death. In her early years, she lived in the Sandridge Community with her family. They were members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, SC. She received her diploma from Tomlinson School. She furthered her education at Williamsburg Technical College, completing a course in Emergency Medical Technician and received a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. She was employed as a professional presser, textile worker, and nursing assistant. At the tender age of sixteen she was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Melvin Lee Segars. To this union, seven children were born. Two preceded her in death, Audrey Virginia Segars and Baby Girl Segars. She reared five additional children and fostered many others. After marriage, she moved with her husband to the Holywoods Community and attended the Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Church. Under the leadership of the late Rev. Mose Boyd, she received her Justification, Sanctification, and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, experiences which she treasured. She worked faithfully as a minister, deaconess, choir member/soloist, Sunday school teacher, cleaning committee member, and cafeteria captain. She and her husband traveled extensively to AFC churches in the Mid-West, South-West, along the East Coast and the Virgin Islands. She shared her gifts of singing, teaching, ministering, and whatever was asked of her in the services. She attended campmeeting in Century, Florida annually until her health failed her.
