Life Reflections

Nancy was born on January 11, 1939 in Williamsburg County, in the Cedar Swamp Community of Kingstree, South Carolina, to the late George and Annie Burrows. She was one of 10 siblings. Nancy transitioned into eternal life on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Nancy received her formal education in the Williamsburg County Public School System at Tomlinson High School.

Nancy later journeyed to Brooklyn, New York, where she began building a life marked by hard work, independence, and unwavering faith. She was faithfully employed at Long Island College Hospital for 25 years in Brooklyn, Ny. She remained in Brooklyn until 2015, when she made the decision to return home to Williamsburg County.

Nancy was Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness at an early age. She spent decades in the full time preaching work. Helping others to learn about Jehovah until her health began to decline.

Nancy was a loving person who found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to cook and enjoyed shopping. She treasured spending time with family and friends and created many memories throughout her life that will continue to be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband the late Leon Hanna; two sons, Vernell Epps and Phil Hanna; seven siblings, Chevina M. Cohen, Nettie James, Alberta Morris, James Burrows, Julie Burrows, Walter Burrows, and Willie Burrows.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Abraham Burrows and Christopher Hawkins; one sister, Wyonna McClendon; and one brother, Elijah (Caletha) Burrows. She also leaves a special niece, Maxine Gibson, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Although she is no longer with us, the memories of Nancy will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life, her love, her faith, and the moments she shared with others will continue to be a part of her legacy.
