Obituary

Deaconess Rachel Ann Cooper, age 69, passed from mortal to immortality on Saturday, July 01, 2017, at Carolina Hospital System, Florence, SC. God saw fit and told his child; "Come on Home and Take Your Rest". She was born March 27, 1948 to the late Reverend Thomas Pressley and Mrs. Lillie Bell Boyd Pressley. She was loved and known to family members as "Dop".

Rachel was reared at an early age in Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Holiness Church, Kingstree, South Carolina in the Holy Woods Community. She was raised in a Christian home where she was taught to love and serve the Lord. She attended the public school system of Williamsburg County, where she graduated in 1968 from Tomlinson High School.

Rachel was entered into Holy Matrimony to the late Ernest Cooper. This union was blessed with four children. Knowing Christ as her personal Savior, Deaconess Rachel was a hardworking servant for God. She worked in many capacities in the church: Deaconess, Beginners Sunday School Teacher, Cafeteria Leader, and Senior Choir Member. One of her favorite songs was "Power Lord". For over 30 years, she dedicated her life to nurturing and loving children, by becoming a Foster Mother. She was employed as a daycare worker, upon retiring she was employed at Kindale Park Daycare.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Gregory Lamont Cooper.

Deaconess Rachel Ann Cooper memories will forever be cherished by her two sons, Ernest Maurice Cooper of Kingstree, SC and Keith Tyrone Cooper of Florence, SC; one daughter, Rachel Teresa Cooper of Columbia, SC; one stepson, Christopher Mitchum of Kingstree, SC; six grandchildren, K'Lantra McCrea, Olivia McCrea, Carson Cooper, Layshaun Mitchum, Nicholas Page, and Christopher Mitchum, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Mr. Isaac(Elnora)Pressley of Kingstree, Mr. Stephenson Pressley of Columbia, SC, Mr. Lynn Pressley of Newark, OH, Mr. Seth (Janie) Pressley of Lake City, SC, Mr. Stanley (Deliso) Pressley, Birmingham, AL and Mr. Keith Pressley of Kingstree, SC, Mrs. Lillie Segres, Mrs. Hattie McKnight, and Mrs. Cecilia (Leroy)Epps all of Kingstree, SC; nine sisters in-law, Mrs. Maxine Bradley, Mrs. Hattie Pressley, and Mrs. Julia Pressley all of Kingstree, SC, Rev. Virginia Pressley and Mrs. Gail Pressley both of Columbia, SC, Mrs. Gena Pressley of Newark, OH, Mrs. Juanita Pressley of Florida, Mrs. Edith Snowden of Rochester, NY, Mrs. Dorothy (George)Graham of Newberry, SC and Mrs. Deloris (George) Taylor of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers in-law, Mr. Tom Cooper and Mr. James Cooper both of Kingstree, SC, and Mr. Alex Cooper, Jr. of Rochester, NY; two uncles, Rev. Nehemiah (Jessie) Boyd and Mr. James Boyd both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three aunts, Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd of Bayside, NY, Rev. Elizabeth (Noel) Spooner and Mrs. Ruthie Mae (Wilbur) Ferrell both of Charlotte, NC; two step uncles, Rev. Leroy (Rose) McAlister and Mr. Curtis McAlister both of Kingstree, SC; two step aunts, Mrs. Karolyn (Eli) Segres of Aiken, SC and Mrs. Deloris Wratee of Agusta, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
