Raymond
Fulton
January 31, 1933 – January 9, 2021
Life Reflections
I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race. 2 Timothy 4:7
Raymond Fulton finished his race and passed on to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at his residence in Kingstree, South Carolina.
He was born on January 31, 1933, in Williamsburg County to the late Eddie and Annabel Fulton, one of nine children.
He received his education at Tomlinson High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for four years. He returned to Kingstree, SC to work on the family farm alongside his father and brothers. Raymond grew to become one of the largest black farmers in Williamsburg County. For more than 60 years, he farmed crops (tobacco, corn, cotton, and soybeans) and raised a herd of cattle. While living in Kingstree, he met the love of his life, Ms. Alma Smith. They were joined in holy matrimony in 1959. Alma Fulton preceded him in death after 53 years of blissful marriage.
Raymond was passionate about making a difference in the community. He served the community as a board member for Santee Electric Cooperative for 38 years. And was an active member of the Voters League, individuals who assisted community residents in obtaining their voter's registration card.
He was preceded in death by: a loving wife, Alma Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Blondell S. Fulton; strong parents, Eddie and Annabel Fulton; three charming brothers, King David Fulton, Thomas Fulton, and Lloyd Fulton; three darling sisters, Eddie Mae Mouzon, Ellen Burgess, and Fremond McCray.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two devoted sons, Walter Fulton of Kingstree, SC, and Joseph (Freddie) Booker of Little Rock, Arkansas and a loving daughter, Anna Lachelle 'Shelly' Hampton of Sterling Heights, Michigan; a brother, Vernal (Virginia) Fulton of Kingstree, SC and a sister, Amanda McFadden of Bronx, NY; two grandsons, David (Liz) Wallace and Joseph (Adriana) Booker, Jr. and nine granddaughters, Deidra Ferguson, Tojuana (Dan) Prather, Kendra Fulton, Kayla Fulton, Audra (Bryan) Hinton, LaMonica (Marsden) Miller, Urikia Randolph, Youndia Randolph, and LaFoyia (Vincent) Sabb-Norman; 18 great-grandchildren; a loyal and devoted caregiver, Mattie Rose, and a host of nieces, nephews, other beloved family members and friends.
