Mrs. Sophia Ester Hamlet McClary, of the Cedar Swamp Community, Kingstree, South Carolina, daughter of the late Dan and Tiney Wallace Hamlet, was born September 11, 1927 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She departed this earthly life March 7, 2013 at the Carolina Hospital Systems, Florence, SC.

Mrs. McClary attended the public school system inthe Williamsburg County. She was also a factory worker.

Sophia was brought up, and confessed Christ at an early age, in St. Luke United Methodist Church. When she moved to Jersey City, NJ Where she lived for years she joined Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Church. Upon her return to Kingstree, she joined St. Paul African Methodist Church and subsequently joined St. Michael United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Eugene McClary and her son, Tecumseh Coyden Hamlet, brothers John Alvin Hamlet, James Albert Hamlet, Daniel Hamlet, and a sister Fairey Belle Hamlet Rogers. She is survived by a loving niece who was like a daughter, Tebbenjohanna Rogers Wallace, (Jerry), Greer, SC, sister; Ann Hamlet Cunningham (David) of Philadelphia, PA, Queen E. Rhue, Andrews, SC, an aunt, Lillie Thomas, of Florence, SC, a sister-in-law, Helen Swinton Hamletof Salters, SC,many nieces, nephews,other family members and friends.
