Obituary

Mr. Thurmond Anderson Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, was born on November 10, 1955, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina, to the late Raymond and Ella Jane Anderson. He peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the age of 69.

Thurmond was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He was a hard-working man who spent over 30 years as a log truck driver, an honest profession he took great pride in. Rain or shine, he was dependable, strong, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Thurmond gave his life to Christ and was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served diligently as President of the Usher Board, a member of the Male Choir, and the Everyready Ministry. He lived a life defined by strength, generosity, and service. Whether helping a neighbor, offering advice, or sharing a laugh, he gave from the heart. His quiet strength and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ella Jane Anderson; his son, Antonio Anderson; and his siblings: Charles Anderson, Rosa Williams, Eva Jane McCray, Mammie Anderson, and Curtis Anderson.

Thurmond leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Edna McKnight Anderson; his children: Grace Anderson, Thurmond Anderson Jr., Darlene Bennett, and Arlene Bennett; and his loving siblings: Mary Nesmith, Levern Anderson, Leatha White, Shirley (Harry Lee) Darby, Saulis (Geraldine) Anderson, Frances Anderson, Pearl Anderson, Raymond (Shirley) Anderson, Mona Lisa Anderson, Ashley (Rashad) Murphy, and Vern Anderson.

He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Though he is no longer with us in body, the legacy of Mr. Thurmond Anderson Sr. lives on in the hearts and memories of all who were blessed to know him.
