Vernon Hilton
Robinson
April 20, 1958 – March 21, 2026
Vernon Hilton Robinson , the youngest child of the late James Wallace and Hattie Beatrice Mitchum Robinson. He was born on April 20, 1958, at Kelly Memorial Hospital, Kingstree, SC. Early on Saturday morning March 21, 2026, he transitioned into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father.
Witnessed by family and friends, Vernon was united in holy matrimony to Christine Hampton Robinson November 9, 2014. In his writings to his family Vernon proclaimed that "this woman is the one that God has sent me". Vernon attended Kingstree Senior High School and later earned a SC State GED. He also took courses in New and Old Testament studies. Early in his life he attended St. Mark A.M.E Church in the Blooomingvale community with his family. Later, he joined St. Mary's Independent Holiness Church in the Johnsonville/Hemingway Community where he experienced tremendous growth in his Christian Walk under the teaching and guidance of Rev. John Rogers. Vernon served faithfully as a Deacon and on the Trustee Board. He played a key role in helping the congregation of St. Mary's in securing necessary funding for the church building, and in establishing the church bylaws. Vernon assisted in establishing Saturday Morning Ministry that addressed the needs and concerns of young men in the community. He especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He loved teaching and helping others to understand God's Word. He had his own way of imparting humor and joy on very serious subjects. One of his favorite scriptures was Psalm 121;" I will look unto the hills from whence cometh my help…."
In addition to his work with the church, Vernon's life work was primarily in the home construction trades. He worked with his brother who owned, Robinson Masonry. He also held employment as a roofer, painter, and flooring installer.
Memories of Vernon will be cherished by his beloved wife, Christine Robinson, daughter Chrisoula Weaver, granddaughters Serenity (Peb) and Ariah of the home, daughters Genetta Weaver, Greenville, SC, Sherena Weaver, Florence, SC, and son Lonnie Person, Johnsonville, SC.
