Wallace Burgess Jr. better know by his family as
"Mickey" was born on April 06, 1938 in Kingstree, South Carolina to the late Wallace Burgess Sr. and Emma Jane Redden Burgess. He departed this life on January 27, 2026. "Mickey" was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County.
"Mickey" loved the Lord and was a member of St. Mary
United Methodist Church until his health failed
Mickey lived a life that exemplified generosity, compas-sion, and joy. He had a unique ability to make anyone feel seen and valued, whether through a shared laugh, a comforting word, or simply his steady presence. His love for family, church, and community leaves a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Mickey was not only a patient at McNair Nursing Facility, but he was considered family there. Mickey's presence was a light in every room he entered, and his warm spirit touched everyone around him—patients, staff, and visitors alike. He could often be found strolling the hallways, sharing a laugh, a story, or a word of encouragement, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings: Clyde Burgess, Edward Burgess, Lottie Mae Green, Wilbur Burgess, Charles Burgess, Joe Burgess, Ernestine Brown and O'Neal Burgess. Left to cherish fond and loving memories of "Mickey" are his loving siblings Shirley McFadden of Kingstree, SC, Cecelia (William) Johnson of Ridge Manor, Fla., Anthrum (Thomasina) Burgess of Columbia, SC and Frank (Boonriab) Burgess of Kingstree, SC. Sisters-in-Laws:
Lucille Burgess of Denver, CO, Sara Burgess of King-stree, SC and Gloria Burgess of Kingstree, SC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives friends, and the staff of Ronald E. McNair Nursing Home.
